Free speech on the internet has become almost status quo. Blue ribbons are proudly displayed on pages though out the web, it has become part of the internet culture.
Is there a conflict between choosing the right to free speech and the right to proclaim that those web pages that are harmful to children be removed? Do we become Big Brother when we do so, and is it necessary?
These are the most fundamental issues regarding the massive buildup of pedophile pages (mostly Boylovers) on the Internet today. These pages are devoted to expressing delight in boys from those sexually attracted to them. That the same individuals claim love to these same boys does not exclude that basic sexual attraction.
The offering of comfort and support, emotional guidance, and stories that relate to their sexual attractions are not uncommon. This all under the guise of "free speech," while enthusiastically joining the blue ribbon campaign. One only has to read pedophile postings on usernet, forums, or chats to understand that their "love" is based on their sexual deviance and not on the need to help a child.
If that were the case pedophiles would
not consider the gender or age of a child. Nor would they have photos
posted on their websites displaying pictures of those that they admit to
being sexually attracted to. I wonder how many pedophiles sexually
attracted to boys would visit a site with only pictures of girls?
Many of these sites that show boys (and girls) get more hits a day than
most other sites get in a month.
The blue ribbons they so proudly display
on their pages are the main reason why no blue ribbon is placed on SOC-UM's
site. If there was a site that put up information and conspired
to hurt a race or ethnic group we would all be upset. It would
be considered a hate crime.
Yet, we allow websites by those individuals that hurt our children, and we do nothing. To believe for a second that these persons care about "all" children is simply to turn a blind eye to the truth. I urge you to read their forums, listen to their chat-sessions, look at their posted pictures and then ask yourself if we allow "freedom of speech" to override a direct threat against the basic interests of our children.
If after having studied those pages you
can honestly say that you don't believe that children are in danger
... then put up that blue ribbon on
your page... right next to theirs.
If you feel that freedom of speech doesn't give them the right to
proclaim their sexual attraction to
children, then take away the blue ribbon
until we can put it up again with pride.
Our children deserve our basic protection
from those who hide behind the blue ribbons and seek to lure them into
a secret web of child sexual abuse. The secrecy does not go unnoticed among
those who harm children, they live on the web through false nicknames,
and false identities. A blue ribbon? No thanks.
