California, Maine, Nevada, and Texas

California AB870

Sentencing Bill: 
AB 870, as introduced, Dickerson. Sentencing. Under existing law, any person convicted of a felony violation of any specified sex offense under one or more specified circumstances,
or 2 or more other specified circumstances, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for life with the possibility of parole after not less than 25 years. If only one of the other specified circumstances is present, the person is required to be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for life with the possibility of parole after not less than 15 years.
 

This bill instead would provide that any person convicted of a felony violation of any specified sex offense under any one or more of the circumstances specified in the above provision, shall be
punished by imprisonment in the state prison for life with the possibility of parole after not less than 25 years."

Maine: LD1037

This Bill provides funding for two positions within the Attorney General's Office. The charge for this new task force would be to investigate and prosecute cases involving unlawful contact between children and adults via the internet.

Nevada: AB56

"AN ACT relating to sex offenders; providing for a program to allow certain sex offenders on parole to participate in treatment with chemical compounds; requiring the chief parole and probation 
officer or his designee to administer the program; providing for a study and a report to the legislature concerning the program; requiring certain conditions of parole for sex offenders who 
participate in the program; authorizing a reduction in the maximum term of imprisonment of certain sex offenders who participate in the program; and providing other matters properly relating thereto."

Texas: HB1432 and HB137

HB 1432 will make the Texas Sex Offender data base on the internet FREE to any one any where.

HB137 will all pictures to be handed out by law enforcement to the public of Texas Sex Offenders.
