Not all of us live to tell our stories. Below is but a partial list of those who never had a chance at life -- I don't have all their ages yet, but all died as children at the hands of a child molester and/or abuser.... This page is dedicated to the littlest angels....

• Abbey - 16 years old? - one of our forum family, who ended her own life when she could no longer bear the pain. She was being abused by her father and felt she had nowhere to go. She couldn't stay in the abuse; she couldn't end it by turning in her father and disrupting her entire family; and she couldn't leave because she had nowhere to go..... Abbey was our first, and I hope our last, successful suicide..... And she had all her life ahead of her, but couldn't see past the darkness she had to live with at home.

• Madlyn Rae Clifton - 8 years old - Jacksonville, Florida (see We-Can Updates - originally listed as missing on 11/3/98) - Maddie was stabbed repeatedly by a 14 year-old neighbor boy who was considered her "friend". He entombed her in his waterbed, where she remained until his mother discovered the body.

• McKayla Davis - 22 months - Tulare, California (see We-Can Updates - originally listed as missing on 7/22/98)

• Penny Davis

• Roxanne Doll - 7 years old - murdered by her drunken father's "friend", R. Clark. When her father passed out and her mother was away, Clark abducted her, raped her, stabbed her repeatedly, then dumped her body like so much garbage. He then returned to her home and continued partying with her father.

• Lorin Easterling - 11 years old - Louisiana - molested and murdered after being taken from her own yard while playing.

• Elizabeth Melissa Jackson - 17 years old - died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at 7:48pm, on April 8, 1999. She was beautiful, and she was loved. And she is missed. (Submitted by her friend, Kimi)

• Megan Kanka - 7 years old - Megan was lured into a neighbor's home on the pretense of seeing a puppy. The neighbor, Jesse Timmendequas, 36, who lived across the street, then raped her, beat her, strangled her to death, and dumped her body in a nearby park. Megan's parents had no idea a child predator was living across the street from them. Timmendequas had two prior sex-crime convictions for a 1981 attack on a 5-year-old girl he lured into the woods and for an attempted sexual assault of a 7-year-old. This information led Megan's parents to campaign for the law now known as "Megan's Law", making it mandatory that all sex offenders register with their local police stations and that the police must notify residents if an offender moves into their neighborhood. The register is available to the public and, in some cities, can be found on the internet.

• Polly Klaas - 12 years old - molested and murdered after being stolen from her own home during a slumber party.

• Michelle Koski

• Christin Lamb - 8 years old - Powell, New York (see We-Can Updates - originally listed as missing on 7/19/98)

• Christin Rochelle Lamb - 8 years old - Laramie, Wyoming - killed August 1998 by the same man who had molested her a few months before, but was still living across the street from her grandparents. She died while being molested. (Submitted by Jayde)

• Chalisa Lewis

• Kati and Kristin Lisk - Kati (12 years old) and Kristen (15 years old) were abducted from their own front yard right after being dropped off by the school bus. Five days later, their bodies were found in a river in Hanover County, Virginia.

• Kayla McKean - 6 years old - Clermont, Florida (see We-Can Updates - originally listed as missing on 11/26/98) - Kayla was reported missing by her father, Richard Adams, 24. But it was discovered later that he had beaten her to death and buried her several miles from home. Despite numerous trips to the hospital with bruises, black eyes, and broken bones, and despite reports by doctors of suspected child abuse, child welfare workers insisted she was at "low risk" in her father's home.

• Anthony Martinez - 9 years old - nabbed while riding his bike, right in front of his older brother.

• Kayla Mayberry

• Quatisha Maycock - 5 years old - Miami-Dade, Florida (see We-Can Updates - originally listed as missing on 11/6/98) - Quatisha and her mother, Shantell Maycock, were dragged from their home by convicted felon, Harrel Franklin Braddy, 49, who knew Maycock from a church group. Quatisha's mother was found alive, but badly beaten, in a field where Braddy had left her for dead. Quatisha's body was found the next day floating in a canal. Braddy had served only 13 years of a 30 year sentence for attempted murder. He was one of hundreds of violent criminals who "earned" early release from prison because of "good behavior". Isn't that what they're SUPPOSED to do in prison? Behave?

• Elyse Pahler - 15 years old - Three Satan-worshipping high school boys drugged, raped, and murdered Elyse in hopes a virgin sacrifice would earn them "a ticket to hell." Elyse's body was found at what authorities believe was an altar to Satan. The three boys were arrested and charged with murder, gang involvement, rape, and torture.

• Sarah Patterson - 11 years old - Sarah and her brother, 9-year-old Cody, disappeared from their home. Cody was found two days later. He had been left for dead after being struck in the head so violently that skull fragments penetrated his brain. He recovered from his injuries. His sister did not. She had been raped and stabbed to death. Her body was found three days later. Bobby Wayne Woods, 32, a former boyfriend of Sarah's mother, is charged in her death.

• Maria Piceno - 8 years old - was tortured and molested, then strangled to death. Her body was found dumped in a pond near her home. She had disappeared while on a routine trip to the grocery store.
